Willowick was built almost all at once. The village had 3,677 people in 1950 and 18,749 in 1960, a fivefold jump in a decade, and it adopted its city charter in 1952 at a council meeting held around a dining room table on Lakeshore Boulevard. The result is one of the densest cities in Ohio: about 6,600 homes on 2.54 square miles, the eighth-highest population density in the state, and a median construction year of 1957. More than four in five homes are detached single-family houses on small lots, and almost nothing has been built since 2000.
So nearly every Willowick house has the same plumbing story. A 1950s cape, ranch or colonial with original galvanized supply, a cast iron stack, a clay sewer lateral under a small front yard, and a basement that was framed out into a rec room sometime in the 1970s. Seventy years on, the galvanized is rusting shut, the cast iron is cracking, the clay has roots in it, and the storm and sanitary lines may have been tied together by a previous owner in a way the city will not allow when the house sells. Steadfast is next door, and we see this exact house every week.
Steadfast is a full-service plumbing company. For the complete list of what we do, see our plumbing services page. In Willowick the work breaks down into a few main categories.
Leaky faucets, running toilets, shutoff valves, garbage disposals, supply lines and fixture installation.
Kitchen, bathroom and floor drains, plus main line cleaning. We use cabling for routine clogs and hydro jetting when grease, scale or roots have built up inside the pipe. A sewer camera inspection is included free with any hydro jet service.
We run a camera through the line from the house to the city main before we recommend anything, so you can see the crack, offset joint or root intrusion yourself. Repairs range from spot repair to full lateral replacement, and we are currently taking $250 off sewer replacement.
Separating storm and sanitary lines, disconnecting downspouts and footer drains from the sanitary sewer, and repairing the lateral so a Willowick home passes the city’s dye test and gets its point-of-sale certificate.
Repair and replacement of tank and tankless units, including gas line work and proper venting.
Installation, replacement and battery backup systems for basements that take on groundwater.
Annual testing and repair of backflow prevention devices, with results filed with the water supplier.
Including replacement of old galvanized supply lines with PEX or copper.
Burst pipes, sewage backups and no-water situations get moved to the front of the line.
Willowick requires every contractor doing business in the city to register with the Building Department at 31230 Vine Street, even if they are already registered with Lake County or another agency, and Codified Ordinance 751.99 sets penalties for anyone who works without a certificate. Registration means proving business insurance and posting a $15,000 bond. The city will not recommend a contractor, but it publishes the full registered list on its website and updates it regularly, so you can check us before you call. Steadfast is on it. Zoning permits come from the city, building permits come from the Lake County Building Department, and we handle both.
Before a house can sell in Willowick, the seller has to pass a point-of-sale inspection made up of three parts: a sewer dye test, a sidewalk and driveway apron inspection, and a fire safety inspection. The dye test is run by the city's own Service Department and confirms that wastewater goes to the sanitary sewer and that storm water, downspouts and footer drains go to the storm sewer, not the sanitary line.
A lot of 1950s Willowick houses fail the first time, usually because a downspout or footer drain was connected to the sanitary line decades ago, or because the clay lateral has a break that lets dye show up where it should not. We put a camera in the line, find the cross-connection or the break, separate the lines or repair the lateral, and get the property ready for the retest. If you are listing a Willowick house, call us before the city runs the test, not after it fails.
Your water comes from the Lake County Department of Utilities, but your sanitary sewer is run by the City of Willowick. That is why the city, not the county, runs the dye test and answers sewer questions. Willowick's Service Department also offers residential sewer snaking, which is worth knowing: if the city clears a clog and it comes back, the problem is the pipe, not the clog, and that is when you need a camera and a plumber. The lateral from your house to the city main is your responsibility to maintain and repair. The county's rule on water is that the service line on the property side of the curb stop is the homeowner's.
Almost every Willowick drain problem we see is a 1957 pipe, not a 2026 clog. Cabling clears the line for a few months. It does not fix a cracked stack, a bellied lateral or a root-choked joint under the street trees on the East 300s. We put a camera in first, show you what is there, then talk about options: hydro jet, spot repair or, occasionally, full replacement. Either way you know before anyone digs.
Every Steadfast plumber is a journeyman with at least five years of experience before we let them on your job. We are licensed, insured and bonded, and we back our work with product and workmanship warranties and a 100% money-back guarantee. Pricing is quoted up front, and we leave the work area the way we found it.

Highly recommend!Posted on Google Ava StewartTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. UPDATE: I'm blown away today. An unfortunate incident occurred after I installed a preventive recommendation made during my initial service call. Brian arrived within 1.5 hours to correct the issue. He took full responsibility for it, though it probably wasn't entirely his fault. He made it right and educated me on how to install going forward. Other than cleanup of water, I had no out of pocket cost for this visit. This is a true example of AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Thank you!!! Brian was polite, very knowledgeable, listened to whatever information I could provide and took his time explaining what he was doing. He had a snake over 100 ft which is what was needed. He also offered a very cheap possible preventative solution to my recurring kitchen + laundry drain clog (washing machine drain filter to prevent dog hair from clogging the pipes). And he cleaned up his minor mess. Highly recommend.Posted on Google Ashley BarberTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Corey and Jimmy were phenomenal! Quality work and quick service! Recommend to anyonePosted on Google J DTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I needed some outdoor faucets repaired/replaced. Tara scheduled the appointment and Brian and Jason arrived to do the work. They diagnosed the problems and suggested the best way to do the repairs. They were efficient and very thorough and even pointed out some other areas of concern which I agreed would be best to have repaired while they were there. I will continue to call this company for future repairs because of their work ethics, honesty, and integrity.Posted on Google David WolfingerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The best HVAC company I've ever worked with. They have been the most timely and thorough whenever I have needed them. Dan will do everything to try and address your problem as quickly as possible. And when he does address it he does a fantastic job explaining everything and what exactly is the issue and what the best fixes are.
Tell us what is happening. If water is actively coming in, we will tell you where your main shutoff is likely to be while we get a truck moving. From Eastlake, that truck is minutes away.
A journeyman plumber inspects the problem, runs a camera if the issue is in a drain or sewer, and explains what he finds.
You get the price before the work starts. No surprise line items at the end.
Most repairs are done the same visit. Larger jobs like lateral replacement or dye test repairs are scheduled with the city and county permits handled by us.
We confirm the fix held. If it did not, the warranty applies.

Yes. Willowick requires every contractor doing business in the city to register with the Building Department, prove business insurance and post a $15,000 bond, and it publishes the current registered contractor list on the city website. Steadfast holds Ohio plumbing license PL.50547 and is on Willowick’s registered list, so we can pull city permits in our own name.
Willowick requires a point-of-sale inspection before a house can be sold, with three parts: a sewer dye test, a sidewalk and driveway apron inspection, and a fire safety inspection. The dye test is performed by the city’s Service Department and confirms that sanitary and storm lines are separated and that downspouts and footer drains do not drain to the sanitary sewer. Steadfast repairs the plumbing and sewer items that cause a failed dye test and prepares the home for the retest.
In Willowick, the homeowner is responsible for the private sewer lateral from the house to the connection at the city main, and the City of Willowick is responsible for the main. Willowick runs its own sanitary sewer system, separate from the Lake County Department of Utilities that supplies your water, and the city’s Service Department offers residential sewer snaking. A camera inspection shows where the blockage or break is, which settles whose problem it is.
The most common reasons are a downspout or footer drain connected to the sanitary line, a sump pump discharging into the sanitary sewer, or a cracked clay lateral that lets dye appear in the storm system. Willowick’s 1950s houses often had these connections made by previous owners before the city required separation. A camera inspection shows exactly what failed, and the fix ranges from disconnecting a downspout to separating the lines to replacing the lateral.
Steadfast provides a free estimate before any work begins, and you approve the written price before we start. There is no charge for the quote. Final cost depends on the repair, and we walk through the options with you rather than quoting one number.
