Plumbing built for Eastlake homes

Eastlake grew fast after the war. The city incorporated in 1948, became a city in 1951 and filled in with thousands of modest single-family homes over the following two decades. The median Eastlake house was built in 1965, and more than eight in ten homes here are detached single-family. That means a lot of original plumbing is now 55 to 70 years old: galvanized supply lines, cast iron drain stacks, clay sewer laterals and basements that were never meant to hold finished living space.

We see the results every week: drains snaked a dozen times because nobody ever put a camera in the pipe, water heaters sized for a 1970 family, sump pumps running nonstop in spring because Eastlake soil near the lake and the river stays saturated for weeks. Steadfast is based here and our journeymen work in these houses daily, so we know what to expect before we open the basement door.

What we offer in Eastlake

Steadfast is a full-service plumbing company. For a complete list of everything we do, see our plumbing services page. In Eastlake, the work breaks down into a few main categories.

Steadfast-plumbers-inKitchen

General plumbing repair.

Leaky faucets, running toilets, shutoff valves, garbage disposals, supply lines and fixture installation.

Drain Cleaning

Drain cleaning.

Kitchen, bathroom and floor drains, plus main line cleaning. We use cabling for routine clogs and hydro jetting when grease, scale or roots have built up inside the pipe. A sewer camera inspection is included free with any hydro jet service.

Sewer Repair

Sewer camera inspection and sewer repair.

We run a camera through the line before we recommend anything, so you can see the crack, offset joint or root intrusion yourself. Repairs range from spot repair to full lateral replacement, and we are currently taking $250 off sewer replacement.

Water Heaters

Water heaters.

Repair and replacement of tank and tankless units, including gas line work and proper venting.

Sump Pumps

Sump pumps.

Installation, replacement and battery backup systems for basements that take on groundwater.

Backflow Service And Testing

Backflow testing.

Annual testing and repair of backflow prevention devices, with results filed with the water supplier.

Steadfast-excavation

Main water line repair and replacement.

Including replacement of old galvanized supply lines with PEX or copper.

Plumber-fixing

Emergency plumbing.

Burst pipes, sewage backups and no-water situations get moved to the front of the line.

Why Eastlake homeowners call Steadfast

We are the local company, not the one that drives in

Our shop is on Curtis Boulevard, off Route 91 near the Vine Street corridor. Classic Park, City Hall on Lakeshore Boulevard and Jefferson Elementary are all within a few minutes of our door. When something goes wrong on a Tuesday morning, we are not routing a truck from Cuyahoga County or the far east end of Lake County. We are already here.

We know how Eastlake's water and sewer systems are set up

Eastlake is one of the few Lake County cities that runs its own sanitary sewer system. Your water comes from the Lake County Department of Utilities, but your sewer bill and sewer service come from the City of Eastlake. That matters when there is a backup, because the line of responsibility between the city main and your private lateral determines who fixes what. We have worked through that division enough times to tell you quickly whether the problem is on your side of the property line.

City ordinance also requires a permit from the Public Service Director before anyone opens, connects to or disturbs a public sanitary or storm sewer in Eastlake, and only licensed contractors are allowed to do that work. We pull the permit and handle the inspection so you do not have to.

Backflow devices are another Eastlake-specific detail. Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3745-95 requires the Lake County Department of Utilities to run a cross-connection control program, and if your property has a backflow preventer (irrigation systems, boilers and some older homes with auxiliary water sources), it has to be tested every year by a certified tester. We do the test and file the paperwork.

We understand what the river and the lake do to basements

Eastlake sits between Lake Erie and the Chagrin River, and both affect plumbing. The west side of the city near the river has a long flood history. In 2019 water from the Chagrin reached Lakeshore Boulevard and the city evacuated a road. Ice jams still push water over the banks most winters. On the lake side, storms in March 2026 put a foot or more of water in basements at the North Coast Point condos off Lakeshore, and residents there said it was the fourth flooding event since the buildings went up in 2002.

Most Eastlake homes are not in the floodplain, but the clay soil across the city stays saturated after spring snowmelt and lake storms. That is why sump pumps and battery backups matter so much here, and why we recommend a sewer camera inspection on any house built before 1975 that has ever had water in the basement. A cracked clay lateral lets groundwater in and sewage out.

We fix the actual pipe, not just the symptom

A lot of Eastlake homes have had the same drain snaked over and over. Cabling clears the clog for a few months but does not fix a bellied pipe or a root-choked joint. We put a camera in the line first, show you what is there, then talk about options: hydro jet, spot repair or, occasionally, full replacement. Either way you know before anyone digs.

We stand behind the work

Every Steadfast plumber is a journeyman with at least five years of experience before we let them on your job. We are licensed, insured and bonded, and we back our work with product and workmanship warranties and a 100% money-back guarantee. Pricing is quoted up front, and we leave the work area the way we found it.

What People Say About Us

What to expect when you call

1. Call or submit the form.

Tell us what is happening. If water is actively coming in, we will tell you where your main shutoff is likely to be while we get a truck moving.

2. Diagnosis.

A journeyman plumber inspects the problem, runs a camera if the issue is in a drain or sewer, and explains what he finds.

3. Written quote.

You get the price before the work starts. No surprise line items at the end.

4. Repair or install.

Most repairs are done the same visit. Larger jobs like sewer replacement are scheduled with the permit and inspection handled by us.

5. Follow-up.

We confirm the fix held. If it did not, the warranty applies.

Frequently asked questions

Do you serve all of Eastlake?

Yes, Steadfast serves every part of Eastlake, including the lakefront streets north of Lakeshore Boulevard, the Chagrin River side bordering Willoughby, the Vine Street and Route 91 corridor, and the streets around Curtis Boulevard where our shop is. We also serve the adjacent villages of Lakeline and Timberlake, which share Eastlake’s sewer system. Because our headquarters is inside the city, travel time to any Eastlake address is short.

In Eastlake, the homeowner is responsible for the private sewer lateral from the house to the connection at the city main, and the City of Eastlake is responsible for the public main itself. The city runs its own sanitary sewer system, separate from the Lake County Department of Utilities that supplies your water. A camera inspection shows where the blockage or break is, which settles the question of whose problem it is. If the issue is on the public side, we will tell you and help you contact the city.

Permits are required for most work beyond simple fixture repairs, and Eastlake city code specifically requires a permit before any connection to or disturbance of a public sewer. Only licensed contractors are permitted to do sewer connection work in the city. Steadfast handles the permit application and schedules the inspection as part of the job.

Backflow prevention devices in Lake County must be tested once a year by a certified tester, per Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3745-95 and the Lake County Department of Utilities cross-connection program. Homes with irrigation systems, boilers or a well or cistern connected to the plumbing typically have one. Steadfast performs the test, makes any needed repairs and files the results with the water supplier.

The most common reasons are an undersized or worn pump, no battery backup for power outages during storms, or groundwater entering through a cracked sewer lateral rather than the foundation. Eastlake’s clay soil stays saturated after snowmelt and lake storms, so a pump that runs constantly in spring is normal, but one that cannot keep up is a sign of a problem. A sump pump evaluation plus a sewer camera inspection usually identifies which one it is.

Steadfast provides a free estimate before any work begins, and you approve the written price before we start. There is no charge for the quote. Final cost depends on the repair, and we walk through the options with you rather than quoting one number.
